In parallel with the developing technology, energy demand is increasing rapidly both in the world and in our country due to industrialization and rapid population growth. Awareness of the energy demand has led researchers to search for new solutions and studies on the use of new technologies. It is estimated that fossil fuels, especially oil, which are among the conventional energy sources that currently meet most of the energy demand, will be depleted in the next 200 years. In order to find a solution to this situation, it is necessary to carry out many R&D / R&D projects on both conventional energy and alternative energy sources.
Although the dependence on fossil fuels is at a high level, the use of renewable energy has been increasing over the years. Keeping pace with global developments in recent years, Turkey has also made significant progress in the field of renewable energy. Although the rates of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy have increased over the years, they are not yet at satisfactory levels. In this context, the aims and objectives of the Energy Studies Application and Research Centre are:
- To carry out pioneering scientific research in energy and related fields.
- To conduct research on energy planning and management.
- To contribute to Turkey’s energy technologies R&D activities with its infrastructure, projects and trained manpower.
- To carry out research on the development of methods, processes and technologies for the production of environmentally friendly clean energy using alternative/renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass.
- To contribute to the transfer of the results obtained with the developed technologies to individual and industry-oriented users and practitioners.
- To train people with effective formation by providing high quality education and training.
